Work From Home Online is Still Work

By Chris Stirling On February 9, 2008 1 Comment

While taking action is critical, it cannot be a just a one-time event, but must be persistent action. There are a lot of folks out there who will try to tell you that if you pay them for a pre-built, plug and play website as the basis of your work from home online business, that you can just spend a little time customizing it and then let it pull in the money for you. While it might be true that you can do the set up once, you will have to take consistent and persistent action to get it promoted or it will be completely lost in the vastness of cyberspace.

Well, you can chalk those promises up to fantasy, because while the internet has opened up many opportunities for people to be able to work from home and regain control over their lifestyle and the way they make a living, the principles of success in work from home opportunities are just the same as they are in traditional business. Those principles are knowledge, action, persistence, patience and sustained effort, especially when first trying to get a business off the ground.

The first principle, knowledge, is listed before the others because taking action before you know the ins and outs of the business you want to pursue is just folly. Taking time to research the market and understand what it takes to make your chosen business thrive, and then learning the skills you need to acquire or improve, will set the stage for the rest of the steps in your .

Once you have gained the knowledge you need about your new it’s time to start taking the actions that are required to build your business. These actions will vary somewhat depending on they type of endeavor you have chosen but you will need to focus on sales, advertising and marketing in order to either gain clients or sell your product or service.

Right alongside action comes persistence. There are some people who will try to sell you a work from home online website and claim that all you have to do it set it up and forget it. But, with the speed of the changes happening on the internet, if you forget to consistently promote your website, or your business, you will very soon be forgotten and left in the dust of those who know what it takes to draw attention to their business.

Even with the most persistent plan of action you must employ patience as well when you work from home. Yes, things happen in the online world at amazing speeds, but if your primary marketing strategy is to get a high listing in a search engine, or if you want your blog to be the most visited, you must understand that it takes time to weave the web of marketing activities that can get you to those goals.

Sustained effort is both the final step, and the beginning step of a new cycle, of the success steps. With the success you will gain from beginning your work from home online business, you can then repeat the process, add to your knowledge, refine the actions you take, follow through with persistence and patience and as you go through this process you will enjoy success built upon success.

Imagine getting up in the morning, getting ready for work and simply walking into your home office to begin your work day. The freedom to take breaks when you want and not worry about going over your allotted lunch hour. For some this dream is a reality. It is not just for stay-at-home moms, either. Thanks to the internet, there is a growing need for outsourced work by companies or industries that are allowing telecommuting. WARNING – Wordpress says “No” to affiliate blogs

By Chris Stirling On February 7, 2008 15 Comments

wordpresslogo2.jpgRecently I have been receiving quite a few frantic emails from friends – asking me if I knew why their WordPress.com blog has been deleted and if I had any idea how they could get it back. Unfortunately I could not help them as this was a decision by Wordpress based on violations of their Terms of Service (TOS)

This post is an important warning for everyone who uses Wordpress.com blogs to drive traffic to their main sites or to affiliate products. If you do either of these you could end up getting your blog deleted without warning.

Just to make sure it is clear, this warning is for people who have a free blog hosted at WordPress.com (your url looks like this: username.wordpress.com). If you are using the WordPress software on your own hosting account you have nothing to worry about.

If you are running one of the free blogs at WordPress.com you have to follow their terms so that you don’t get your blog deleted without warning. Here are two very scary terms in the terms of service for Wordpress.com blog:

Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs.

SEO blogs: Blogs that are written for search engines instead of humans. These blogs are dedicated to trying to fool Google and the other search engines into ranking them highly. Wordpress.com is not meant for this type of activity

Wordpress.com clearly states that blogs that violate these terms:
will be deleted as soon as we find them or they get reported

Doh! Those 2 terms ban two powerful uses an internet marketer has for a blog. But we shouldn’t be surprised because most of the other free blogging platforms like Google’s Blogger have similar terms and they will suspend/delete your blog without blinking. Here you can read Wordpress’ complete Terms Of Service and see the Types of Unacceptable Blogs

Blogging is an extremely potent way to achieve good search engine rankings, build your list ofi_love_blogging.jpg subscribers and generate traffic to your own sites or affiliate sites. There is not question that if you are serious about earning money online the you need to be running a blog. But if you are using the free blog platforms make sure you are not just driving traffic to your main site or affiliate products. Put high quality, human written content in your blog, stimulate dialogue and provide value for your readers, and from time to time suggest a product via an affiliate link. If you do this your blog will be OK.

Fortunately if you just want to drive traffic to your main site or affiliate links from your blog there are some good alternatives.

In my opinion WordPress is the best blogging platform out there and I highly recommend it as the blogging platform for everyone to use. The absolute best solution is to set up a WP blog on your hosting account and domain. That way you have full control over everything and don’t have to follow other people’s terms.

Here are three great blogging resources for affiliate marketers.

Atomic Blogging from Alvin Phang is an excellent course and it includes some very nifty WordPress plugins and templates you can’t get anywhere else. Alvin is a having a sale right now and until Feb. 10th you can save 60% on Atomic Blogging

Blogging To The Bank by Rob Benwell. Rob is one of the pioneers in affiliate blogging and I’m truly amazed at the amount of content he gives away in his step-by-step Blogging To The Bank guide.

And once you have your Wordpress Blog up and running Semiologic Pro is a powerful theme to use that is full of traffic driving plugins that you can’t get anywhere else (I love this so much I use it on this very blog) Click here to learn more about Semiologic Pro

Have you lost your Wordpress blog or know anyone who has?  Please leave a comment and share your story so we can learn from your situation.  Or if you have any questions or feedback please let a comment.

10 reasons to work from home

By Chris Stirling On February 5, 2008 5 Comments

1) Be there for your family. This is frequently the number one reason for working from home. Being there for your children, your spouse, or your aging parents… it’s so important.

2) Make yourself wealthy. Why would you continue to work on making someone else wealthy when you can use all that hard work toward your own future?

survey_home_ss.jpg3) Choose your own hours. Work when you want, where you want, for as long as you want. It doesn’t get any better than this!

4) Write your own paychecks. You don’t ever have to ask for a raise. You work for it. If you need more income, you know exactly what you need to do to get it.

5) Tax Benefits. You’ll save thousands in lncome taxes when you know what you can deduct as business expenses. Check with your accountant!

6) No Commute. Actually, you will have a commute – from your bedroom to your home office (which may even be in your bedroom!). The average working American wastes hours per day sitting in traffic on the way to and from work. No more!

7) Live where you want! You no longer have to worry about being close to your employer. City, suburbs, or lakeside home … it’s up to you.

8 ) Eliminate your overhead. You don’t need to rent a big fancy office and furnish it with expensive equipment. It’s called your house! A spare room or just some space in an existing room will do.

9) Vacation days whenever you need them! Need a day off? You won’t have to "call in" to anyone but yourself. Talk about flexibility!

10) You are the best b.o.s.s you’ve ever worked for. It shouldn’t be any other way!

Home Data Entry Work – Tips For Success

By Chris Stirling On February 3, 2008 1 Comment

Finally your dream of leaving that 9-5 grind job has come true and you have a telecommuting job doing home data entry. This is all well and good until your realize you have looming deadlines by which to get your data entry work done and the kids are screaming for lunch, your spouse just phoned and said he’s bringing the boss home for dinner and oh yeah, your oldest child needs six dozen frosted cupcakes by tomorrow morning. You don’t need to be cloned, you simply need to learn to manage your time to include family duties, as well as your work at home data entry job duties.

If your home data entry work is going to bring you a whole new level of financial freedom, then it is best to tend to it like a fragile franchise. Think of it as your golden ticket to having lots more time to spend with your family, enjoying your hobbies and of course having a good deal of extra income to afford some of the things that you have been dreaming of doing or owning. Certainly, even the best and most prosperous home data entry work positions will come along with snags from time to time. However, if you work at a level of dedication and organization that is top notch, you will see many benefits down the road.

To begin with, you are going to need a good place at home where you can work with little or no interruptions at all. This may mean a room within your home or apartment that is closed off from the rest of your family, or simply a corner with a desk and an ample amount of workspace. Home data entry work will mean having a computer as well as various office supplies that you will need to use throughout your daily activities. Having all of the right tools will only help you get your work done in a timely manner as well as help you achieve the income that you desire.

Once you have established a permanent place to do your home data entry work, you will need to put together a workable schedule. Many mothers with younger children find that they are able to get most of their work done if they work around their children’s sleeping schedules. A good schedule would be to work in the mornings when the child is sleeping, again during the afternoon nap and for a couple of hours at night. In this way you can still be a full time mother and get your at home data entry work done with no stress.

Working from home takes a commitment that is often underestimated when people decide they no longer want to work in a regular office from nine-to five. The initial problem is finding the right job. It can be difficult to find a job that allows you to work from home or be your own boss. You have to analyze what your strength and weakness is and then find a job that fits you. Data entry jobs are a growing field that allows people to telecommute from the comfort of their own home. Click here to find your perfect job: Top work from home
