We all know a friend or neighbor who has sold something on eBay. Often it is an old item they no longer want taking up space in their basement or garage. Sometimes we hear of a family heirloom being sold on these auction sites for six figures. For this reason eBay is one of the more popular sites for people to start making some money online. But can you use these auction sites, like eBay to earn a full time income, or even get rich? The answer all depends on your dedication level and willingness to put time into the process. There are people who are extremely wealthy because of eBay and all they did was treat it like a business and not a hobby. There is no reason you can’t do the same.
Ebay calls those that are successful on their site "powersellers". If you are serious about making a living online through the auction websites then you should set a goal to become a powerseller yourself. To do that the first thing you should do is not set up an account with eBay. No, before you even go on the site you should consider getting some education on how to set up your account the right way, and how to sell like a powerseller. A little education will save you hundreds of dollars and time by avoiding the common mistakes so many people make when starting out. The process is not rocket science but there are some tricks and techniques that make the process easier and more profitable if you know what you are doing.
When you are starting out it is a good idea that you consider selling items that you are familiar with. It doesn’t really matter what you sell as the market is so big that there is sure to me customers for your product. It is best that you know what you are selling so that you can answer questions on it with confidence. Selling an item that you are familiar with will also cut down on your learning curve as you won’t have to learn the ins and outs of the product and can focus on learning the process of selling on eBay.
Once you know the products you want to sell consider focusing on just one product. Again this will let you learn the process of selling on these type of sites. It is better to learn this process because once you do you can repeat the process over and over again with any product you want. And once you have the process down you can then start selling products you know nothing about because you can then take the time to learn about the product.
There are many places you can find your first item to sell on an auction site. You can hit your garage or basement, or even your local thrift store. Remember that this is just to learn the process of selling and is not a long term solution. Because you can only sell these type of items on these sites for so long it is recommended that you get training on how to be a success. The good training programs out there will teach you where to find products to buy at wholesale and how to sell at retail. They will even show you how to find drop shippers who will not only sell you the product at a discount but ship it to your buyer for you. Now when you learn how to do that you are acting like a real business and you will become a powerseller in no time.
