Less Work For More Money

By Chris Stirling On June 30, 2009 No Comments

In my last post on blogging (Make Them Want To Eat Your Words) I was talking about social proof and creating good content as a one-two punch to winning the blogging race.

But I have to admit, there’s a little more to it than just writing good content and hoping people will sing your praises and trample their way to your site, particularly in the early days.

You see, whether we like to admit it or not, there’s a little bit of elbow grease required to kick any blog into the running, so if you’re not prepared to put in some up front commitment, then this isn’t the business for you.

But that goes for any business I suppose right? Well, here the difference with Blogging to the Bank 3.0:

Rob Benwell (the author) has taken the time to pay out a plan that whilst requiring some upfront work, actually doesn’t make you slave away for months on end with little to show for it.

Why and how, you might ask…

Well, the reason why his system cuts out the usual legwork is because he explains in detail how to pick a profitable niche right from the start, instead of busting your guts to get blood out of a stone (with a niche people don’t but much stuff).

He also kicks right in with setting up your blog the right way from day one so that all of your efforts create this snowball effect where traffic keeps piling on, mainly thanks to search engines.Secret Affiliate Code

Finally, he shows you how to best extract money from the blog and how to eliminate your slavery but outsourcing the work required. This gives you your time back so that you can roll out another project immediately and repeat the entire systematic process time after time after time, until you literally reach the income level you personally desire.

If you want to cut out the chores and wasted months of blogging doomsville, then I suggest a read of Rob Benwell’s Blogging to the Bank 3.0.

Make Them Want To Eat Your Words

By Chris Stirling On June 28, 2009 No Comments

Do you think it’s easy to get a few hundred visitors to your blog or website every day?

Well, if you answered yes, then this email is probably not going to interest you.

If however, you find that getting a ton of traffic is far easier said than done, then it’s time to get the record straight once and for all…

You see, I used to think that the reason we struggle to get traffic is because there is so much competition and not enough people to go around! That’s silly really when you realize just how many people there are online every day, looking for what you’re selling.

So it came to my understanding that it’s not lack of people, it’s a lack of service to those people. Let me explain…

When you walk down your local street which has lots of shops, restaurants on it, which ones make you step inside?

Well, first of all it would be the ones that are specifically selling what you want right?

Ok, that makes sense. But what if you walked down another street which was full of restaurants that were all Italian? How would you decide which one to go eat at?

Well, there are two things:

1. Recommendation (friends tell you to go there)
2. Social Proof (you see other people inside looking happy)

So, just like a restaurant relies on these two aspects to get traffic through their doors, so does every single business online.

This means, if you want your blog to become a traffic magnet, you need to:

1. Have other people talk about how cool your site is
2. Have some kind of interaction with your visitors to show new comers that they are not alone

How to do this:

1. Create killer content (gets people talking)
2. Add visitor counters, comments, forums, polls, surveys, reviews to your blog so that people know that they are not the first in though the door.

Now, adding polls, comments etc is easy. It’s just a case of turning on a script in your blog. But as for content, well that’s a different matter.

After all, how do you create it, keep adding it, and let people know about it and maintain this momentum for months on end?

The truth is, this is just one of the aspects covered in Blogging to the Bank 3.0. Once you’ve got the content aspect nailed (which is one of the first things Rob Benwell, the creator, teaches you, then it’s a simple case of following his simple step by step system to attract more people to your blog every single day, which then makes EVEN MORE people from the outside want to know what all the fuss is about over at your blog.

Pretty soon, you’ll find yourself being that restaurant that everybody wants to kick back at with a nice drink, warm seats and good company… capiche?

So why not check out Rob’s story and see if he can’t help you get to that point this year, not next year or the year after that….THIS YEAR.

4 Tips To More Blog Traffic

By Chris Stirling On June 27, 2009 No Comments

Every online business needs traffic in order to survive, that much we already know.

But in this article, we’re going to look at 4 of the most effective ways to set up windfalls of consistent traffic through one of the best publishing platforms online – blogs.

1. RSS Feeds

Most blogging software such as Wordpress come with a built in RSS feed, which is the equivalent to having a newsletter subscription service, but of course is 100% free and requires no details to be passed over from the subscriber. Most people just let their RSS feed sit there on their new blogs but what you must do is submit your RSS feed URL to as many RSS directories as possible. Therefore, when you post new content on your blog, this is syndicated to your RSS feed and the directories display your most recent posts. This is one of the easiest ways to get immediate exposure every time you post content.

2. Blog commenting

If you’re looking for targeted traffic and some solid one way backlinks to boost your search engine listings, then try commenting on other people’s blogs leaving a link back to your website. Providing you post relevant and useful content/comments on other people’s blogs, the blog owner will “approve” your comments and you link will then become live. This can bring direct traffic and of course help with your rankings in the search engines.

3. Guest Bloggers

There are many advantages to having guest bloggers post their content on your site. Apart from the credibility of your blog going way up (depending on who the guest actually is), you are forming a mini joint venture where the guest is likely to tell his/her own audience about the material on your site, plus you may be able to work out a deal where you can return the favor and get access to their blog audience by appearing as a guest writer on their blog.

4. Trackback links

A trackback is when one blog communicates with another to inform the bloggers that their material has been referenced on someone else’s post. So if you were to write a really good post, I could write about your post and create a trackback on youSecret Affiliate Coder blog that tells the readers I’ve been talking about you and your post. Not only can this bring direct traffic, but also provides another backlink to your blog which is great for a little SEO boost. When would this be most effective? Probably when I have a contrasting opinion to your original post or if I have something helpful (or controversial) to add to the original post.

These are just 4 of many ways to explode your blog traffic, but we’re not done yet. It’s possible to reach dizzy levels of traffic for your new blog right from day one when you have an arsenal of blogger’s traffic tactics at your disposal. Check out Blogging To The Bank for more details…

Is John Chow An Idiot or Brilliant?

By Chris Stirling On June 27, 2009 1 Comment

For those of you that follow me and this blog you will know I am from Vancouver, Canada.  I have been online since Feb 2005 and make a decent living from my online business.  It wasn’t until a few years after I was online that I started this blog.  One of the people that inspired me to get into blogging was a fellow Vancouverite named John Chow.

Now for those of you who have not heard of John Chow he runs a blog called JohnChow.com where he rambles on about how he makes money online from his blog.  At first it doesn’t seem too interesting – I mean why would you want to read a blog from a guy who basically brags about how much money he makes blogging.

Well recently he posted a video on his blog that gives his exact business model on how his blog generates $40,000/month.

The video he posts is from a presentation he gave here in Vancouver.  The quality of the video is not the best I have seen (John isn’t even wearing a microphone) but the information he gives is priceless for anyone wanting to know how to make money blogging.

In the video he covers:

  1. His blogging history
  2. Why Most Bloggers Don’t Make Money
  3. The Average Blog Business Model (and why they don’t make money)
  4. His Blog Business Model (and how he makes his money)

Now this is where I have to ask the question – by posting this video outlining his business model is John an idiot for sharing his business secrets or is he brilliant for doing so?

Watch the video by clicking here (warning it is 56 minutes long) and then post your thoughts below – I’d love to know what you thought.

5 Tricks To Creating Good Blog Content

By Chris Stirling On June 26, 2009 1 Comment

If you’re trying to get more eyeballs on your blog and more cash in your pocket, then there’s one thing that fuels traffic and income…good content!

I’m going to cover the pillars to creating good quality, magnetic blog content that will bring in traffic, fans and fortunes if you stick with it for a few weeks.

1. Killer titles

If your goal is to get ranked in the search engines, you need to obviously focus on getting your keywords in your title. However, you also need to balance this with actually creating titles that people want to click on and read. Use controversy, mystery, benefits and breaking news as the triggers for all of your titles. If you can ask a question within your title, even better.

2. Make it “scan-able”

Nobody reads full articles in these hectic times, not generally speaking anyway. Even your biggest blog fan will have times when they need the meat from your content without being told about how poorly your cat is. So use bullet points, sub headlines, accents etc. Make sure you break up large paragraphs so it appears less daunting to read in one sitting.

3. Controversy

Nothing gets more attention (and raving loyal fans) than a person who speaks their mind and kicks up a little dust every now and then. Speak to your audience, don’t just be another “me too blogger”. Just make sure you don’t say anything derogatory which could lead to legal troubles.

4. Use pictures

You only have to look at all the news papers every day and it’s clear to see how important images are. They have the ability to sum up an entire article and can also stimulate emotion or provoke a response. Also, it’s a proven fact that people are drawn to images first, and then their eyes will gravitate to the caption underneath the image. Guess what that caption could be? Yep, an affiliate link or advert perhaps?

5. Use lists

Also referred to in the blogosphere as utility posts. The types of posts that are often a “Top 10 Ways To…” or “The 7 Things You Need To…” and so on. These are great because they are not only easy to read, but also useful for the reader too.

There you have it – a simple 5 step plan to creating content that is not only worth reading, but can result in increased revenue and more visitors to your site in general. But there’s a lot more to wealthy blogging that just great content, which is impossible to cover in the article alone.

If you’d like to know how to step up your blogging to the point of getting thousands of hits per month and seriously boosting your income as a result, check out Blogging To The Bank as soon as possible.
