In other words, if they had a full time employee working on the data entry they would be paying for that job plus normal wages for the day, or however long it would take an employee to complete the job. Whereas, with a telecommuter, they can agree on a one time fee for that particular job.

This reduces the chance of someone applying for the job who does not have the qualifications you desire. As for potential telecommuters, being with a reputable company also helps to get your qualifications out there, in the job market, to increase your chances of finding gainful employment. It also helps reduce the possibility of either the telecommuter or the hiring company being part of a scam.
